Ronnie J. ‘Bivis’ Romero

Funeral services will be conducted for Ronny Joseph “Bivis” Romero, 62, on Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at 2 p.m. in the David Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon George Sikes officiating. Interment will follow in the Beau Pre Memorial Park Mausoleum with Military Graveside Rites conducted by V.F.W. Post 1982 of New Iberia.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. and resume on Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at 8 a.m. until services. A Rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m.

A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mr. Romero died on Monday, June 22, 2009, at 3:44 a.m. upon arrival at a local hospital. He was employed with Morton Salt Mine on Weeks Island for 30 years. He served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam Era. He enjoyed horseracing, football and baseball games, playing cards and going to the casino.

He is survived by his longtime companion Theresa Perry “Sue” Barrilleaux of New Iberia; his son Brad Perry and his wife, Ashley, and Brandon Barrilleaux and his wife, Trinity, all of New Iberia; his daughters Stephanie Dollar and her husband, Bobby, of West Memphis, Ariz., Gail Kimble of Arkansas and Nicole Dore and her husband, Jason, of New Iberia; his sisters Janette Romero Heitman and Lou Boutte Moity both of New Iberia; 11 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Elina Viator Romero; his brother Howard “Bud” Romero and a grandchild. Pallbearers will be Brad Perry, Justin and Toby Romero, David “Bow” Viator, Jason Dore and Brandon Barrilleaux.
