Marjorie H. Newsom

Marjorie Hebert Newsom, 91, a native of Turkey Creek and a resident of Franklin, went to be with the Lord Thursday, June 18, 2009, at 10:40 p.m. at her son’s residence.

She is survived by fours son, Alton Ray Newsom and his wife, Dorthy, of Gentry, Arkansas, Charles Lynn Newsom and his wife, Jane, of Centerville, Glenn Douglas Newsom and Diane of Bayou Jack, and Bobby Wayne Newsom and his wife, Peggy, of Charenton; one daughter, Sharon Renae Hatfield and her husband, Mark, of Athens, Alabama; three sisters, Annie-belle Cooper of Kinder, Pearl Thibodeaux of Bentonville, Arkansas, and Winifred Franks of Searcey, Arkansas; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Newsom was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer D. Newsom; her parents, Joseph Hebert and Blanche Clark Hebert; two brothers, Wayne and Philemon Hebert; two sisters, Jessie Litton and Josie Kennedy; and one great grandson, Chase Roberts.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed Sunday, June 21, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Church of Christ, 604 Sycamore St, Franklin.  Visiting will resume Monday, June 22, at the church at 8 a.m. until time of service.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 22, 2009, at 10 a.m. at the Church of Christ.  Kenneth Wright will officiate the service.

Burial will be held Monday in the Turkey Creek Cemetery at 2 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Damon Newsom, Danton Newsom, Darren Maples, Joel Newsom, Canaan Newsom, and Mason Hatfield.

Mrs. Newsom’s last words to her family were, “I hate to leave ya’ll, just cling to the Lord.  Tell all my children and grandchildren to cling to the Lord.”
