Floramye M. LeCompte

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mrs. Herbert M. LeCompte, the former Floramye Frenzel, age 91, at 3:00 pm Monday, June 22, 2009 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Fr. Charles Langlois will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in Holy Family Mausoleum.

The family has requested that visiting hours be observed on Monday from 9:00 am until services. The recitation of the rosary will be held at 1:30 pm.

A native of Vinton and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. LeCompte passed away peacefully at 12:30 am Friday, June 19, 2009 at Belle Teche Nursing and Rehab.

Floramye was born November 16, 1917 to August Frenzel and the former Cecile Lasserre. She and her twin sister Florabelle were known by all as “Nip” and “Tuck”. Floramye was a lifelong parishioner of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, where she was a member many years ago of the Baby Visiting Committee.

Survivors include her children, Jeannine LeCompte of New Iberia, and Michael James LeCompte of Laporte, Texas; four grandchildren, Todd Michael Sharpe and wife Rachel of Prairieville, Shannon Stewart and husband Michael and Michael Bednarz and wife Whitney all of Magnolia, TX, and Brandon LeCompte of Nashville, TN; and six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert M. LeCompte; parents, August and Cecile Lasserre Frenzel; her twin sister, Florabelle “Tuck” Berges; and brothers, George and Henry Frenzel.

Serving as pallbearers will be David LeCompte, Provost Minvielle, III, Travis Louviere, Scotty Stevens, Bobby Berges and Douglas Viator.

Honorary pallbearers will be Pat Huckaby, Larry Berges, Drew, Randy and Brian LeCompte, Darcey Woods, Todd Viator and Chris Viator.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. LeCompte’s name to the Lydia Cancer Association, P.O. Box 731, Lydia, LA 70569 or to the Humane Society, 1314 Troy Road, New Iberia, LA 70563.
