The only time Miss Carolyn lived away from Jeanerette was during the period she attended Dominican School in New Orleans and Southeastern Louisiana Institute (now University of Louisiana at Lafayette). She returned to Jeanerette to open “Barlyns,” a drugstore/soda fountain shop, with her sister Barbara. After her retirement, Miss Carolyn was able to spend more time at her camp at Cypremort Point where she occupied herself by entertaining family and friends and crabbing with the help of “Ethel.” She also belonged to the Jeanerette Sewing Club and was an avid reader.
The family would like to thank Northa Lee Holmes, Sarah Patout, her great niece, all her sitters, the staff and nurses of AAA Hospice and Dr. Stephen Boudreaux. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jeanerette Library, 411 Kentucky St., Jeanerette, LA, 70544 or AAA Hospice, 2111 Highway 14, New Iberia, LA 70560.
Condolences may be expressed online at www.davidfuneralhome.com.
David Funeral Home, 400 Provost St., Jeanerette, 276-5151, is in charge of arrangements.
