Mildred V. Dugas

Funeral services will be conducted for Mrs. Frank Joseph Dugas Jr., the former Mildred Viator, 90, at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 18, 2009, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Fr. Charles Langlois officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Family Mausoleum.

Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Wednesday with a Rosary at 7 p.m. The funeral home will reopen at 8 a.m. on Thursday until service time.

A native and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Dugas passed away at 9:48 pm on Sunday, June 14, 2009, at Iberia Medical Center.

Mrs. Dugas enjoyed gardening, cooking for her family, sewing for her daughters, all types of music and traveling. One of her favorite past times was raising chickens, ducks and pigeons. She was very fond of her family and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters, Gayle D. Vergenal and husband, Robert Vergenal Sr., and Debra Dugas and husband, Lynn Dugas, all of New Iberia; five grandchildren Jamie Vergenal and wife, Angie, Robert Vergenal Jr., Shannon Dugas and wife, Holly, and Brian Dugas and wife, Paula; eight great-grandchildren Skye, Siegan, Brandon, Katie and Connor Vergenal, Blaise, Ryen and Meredith Dugas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Joseph Dugas Jr.; parents, Aurelie and Anaise Broussard Viator; grandson Keith Vergenal; four brothers Tony, Rufus, Wiley and Nick Viator; and two sisters Enola V. Landry and Beulah Viator.

Pallbearers will be Lynn Dugas, Brian Dugas, Shannon Dugas, Jamie Vergenal, Skye Vergenal, Siegan Vergenal, Blaise Dugas and Ryen Dugas.

Honorary pallbearers will be Earl Landry, Terry Fox and Robert Vergenal Jr. and Keith Vergenal, her grandson who passed away two years ago.
