why no Parish owned landfill?

The only landfill accessible to Iberia Parish residents is privately owned and operated commercially. Why doesn't Iberia Parish man up and build their own landfill and put it where it is not in the way of the 2 airports and residential housing?

It seems short-sided to me with all of the infrastructure grants being passed around that could not have our own Parish landfill.................and then we would be free of the virtual hostage situation we are now in with Gordon Doerle's commercial operation.

Short-sighted our Parish government is...........no airport zoning, and no Parish owned landfill. Iberia Parish should man up and build its own Parish owned landfill so that we don't have to suck up to Gordon Doerle's monopoly!
