First Lady's Sneakers
By : Interesting
Published/Last Modified on Saturday, May 2, 2009 2:31 PM CDT
Has anyone read the article regarding Michelle Obama sporting the pair of $549 sneakers? It kills me to think of how President Obama campaigned about the poor and middle class families and what he would do for them. Has anyone seen this happen yet? Yes, I realize it is early in his presidency but I have my doubts about his campaign promises and where his focus really is. I have to ask people this question. Does anyone feel in the type of recession our country is in at this moment with many Americans suffering many types of hardships, do you feel that Michelle Obama is setting a very good example while sporting a pair of sneakers that cost $549? Just because she is the first lady and she can now afford to do this I am just wondering what others think of this type of spending. I feel like Michelle and President Obama should be the first people trying to set an example for Americans and I don't feel this is setting a very good example. I feel this is like slapping us poor and middle class people in the face. LQjRBWhat do you think?

We are talking here about Mrs. Obama's tennis, but since you brought it up I believe in pro-choice. Every person is responsible for their own life and their own salvation. If a person follows the 10 commandments then on judgement day each should hear well done good and faithful servant. If someone chooses aboration that is their decision not yours not mine. We will all have our personal sins to answer for. Breaking any of the 10 is a sin not just #6. "

You hit the nail on the head. While the country is in the grasp of economic turmoil, corporate overlords making slaves of us and religious fanatics seeking nuclear weapons it is the height of irresponsibility to force the public discourse towards such inane topics. "

If New Iberia is full of ignorance and hatred, then that may be reflective but whether or not that's appropriate is another matter. "

People who 'know' brands, know their cost. For instance a pair of NM Croc sneakers cost $1900. That's not an issue for people in some circles.
Unanswered Qs. Did she buy them? Ok, when? Was it a present from a friend or family member? Have previous First Ladies served at soup kitchens? Ok, what did their items cost? Is the topic worth all this discussion? "

Who are you to tell someone to stop posting because you don't agree with them? Cheeka's comments are perfectly appropriate and probably reflective of the majority of New Iberians.
You, on the other hand, make unfounded accusations of racism, stupidity, and hatred when people express reasonable opposition to the policies of Obama. Your nasty, snide comments remind me of another psudo-intellectual poster's futile attempts to impress with sophistry. Actually, you sound like the same boorish person.
Cheeka, you keep on posting. The Perez Hiltons and Bayou Prophets haven't yet successfully abolished our freedom of speech. "

Many of you will never consider Obama anything but a bad President because you are racist. Some of you aren't racist but still hold this view because you're politically biased, that is - you hate all Democrats.
Blind hatred of another person because of race or political affiliation is all the same in God's eyes. "

You are hitting the nail on the head. I would love to hear more of what you have to say because you are right on point regarding the actions of our President.
Peopl don't get it, they defend him for one reason only and I don't have to say why. I guess they forget how many of our other Presidents have gotten bashed till the cows come home. They were white presidents but in present day when people object with our present President it is a racial think. They will never get it. "

It is about those with power and money who victimize the working class by imposing outrageous taxation in order to advance their agendas and pander to voters. THEIR children go to the best private schools...THEY drive luxury cars and fly around in private jets...many of THEM cheat on or do not pay their taxes. All the while, the prosperity of the middle class is shrinking. Can anyone explain to me why this is a good thing? "

All of these Washington clowns who generate outrageous taxation for hard working Americans find ways to exempt themselves. They are seemingly not bound by their campaign rhetoric, sometimes to the point of being above the laws.
Case in point, although technically not illegal, is Comrade Pelosi's paying her husband just under $100,000 from her PAC funds as reported by the Washington Times, October 1, 2008. Now, THAT would buy a lot of sneakers. "

The normal family watches how they spend their money and not all people who do have money flaunt it. Yes, I realize she can afford it but stop and think of what they campagned on. Helping the poor and middle class normal famiilies like they consdiered themselves to be. What a bunch of bull! Lies, lies, lies! "
