KENNER -- Jaci Trahan allowed one unearned run on one hit and Jenny Bouillion had a home run and three RBIs as Delcambre advanced to the State Farm/LHSAA Fastpitch 56 state softball tournament next weekend with a 6-1 Class A regional playoff win over St. Martin’s Episcopal Friday.

Trahan struck out 12 and walked only one in seven innings for her seventh win of the year against one defeat.

Teirrany Peltier, Linzy Landry and Sarah Derise each had two hits for Delcambre, which scored four runs in the first inning and added a run in the fourth and another in the sixth inning. DHS improved to 22-7 on the year.

The defending Class A state champions will play Archbishop Hannan in the quarterfinals Friday. Hannan beat St. Edmund of Eunice 3-2 Friday in another regional round game.

Hannan beat Delcambre 2-1 on March 13.

Mychal Truxillo took the loss for St. Martin’s (13-8), allowing four runs on two hits in a third of an inning.

Game times for the quarterfinals at Frasch Park in Sulphur have not been announced.

Ascension Catholic 8, Hanson 1

DONALDSONVILLE -- Ascension Catholic hit everything Hanson pitcher Brittany Sonnier threw at them, and the Lady Tigers scored only on Sonnier’s firt-inning home run as ACHS eliminated Hanson in the second round of the Class A softball playoffs Saturday.

Sonnier allowed six runs in two innings, while Dacia Collette pitched the final five innings and allowed two runs.

“It didn’t matter what we threw, they hit,” said HMS coach Theresa Lombardo. “After the third inning when Dacia settled down, they didn’t score again.”

But by then Hanson trailed 8-1, and the score remained that way.

Sonnier’s homer was her second in as many playoff games.

Also with hits for Hanson (16-9) were Collette, Lexi Coleman, Laura Miller and Mallory Chiasson.

“She was a decent pitcher,” Lombardo said of ACHS pitcher Lanie Presley. “She had a lot of movement on the ball.

“I told the kids going in if we didn’t hit the ball we were going to lose, and we didn’t hit the ball.”
