A family member of mine was beaten in the head two weeks ago by his daughters boyfriend. My family member was on his property when the beating occured. The boyfriend was told the night before by deputies to stay off my family members property. He trespassed on the property the following night and beat my family member and left him on the ground, face down, in his own blood. He was transported to a hospital in Lafayette and was in ICU for 2 days. His total stay in the hospital was 4 days. The boyfriend was NOT arrested for this assault. My family member was told to get hospital reports and bring them to the Sheriff's department. He did just that. His reports were refused by the department, stating he had to give them to the deputy or deputies that were dispatched to the assault. Still, the boyfriend is still out and has not been arrested as of today.
This is just unbelievable to me that someone can go onto your property, beat you senseless, and not be put in jail. What is wrong with this picture?? The sheriff has not returned the phone call that was made to him my family member's sister.

The sheriff's department needs some better leadership. Mr. Ackal doesn't appear to be doing his job very well.
I am withholding my name to this letter. When the boyfriend is arrested and put in jail, then i will feel safe. Until then, sign me,
disgusted

sounds to me the deputy probably wrote a report, tried to find this guy by going to his home or wherever, and could not find him... so what is the next step? a warrant.... now the deputies just need to find him and arrest him... thats just the way it works like it or not... get a scanner and listen to their radios after 12pm and see how crazy this town gets.... You're wrong. The victim was on his own carport and was hit in the head with a pipe with his hair and flesh on the pipe. The assailant is pumped up on drugs and twice the size of an ordinary man. Get your story straight. Do you know how his daughter treated the incident? Try to find that out and give your opinion of her. "

They did not expect the victim to live due that first night to his subdual hematoma.
Trouble at his beautiful daughters place for too long; way too much party time for a mom--the victim feared for his 2 grandson's safety. The land she has a double wide on was bought with blood sweat and tears by her grandfather.Perhaps the state police would be a better choice to utilize in this attempted murder case; or the victim can go to the court house to family court and press charges himself.
