Raise the Minimum Wage to $9.50 an Hour by 2011

Raise the Minimum Wage to $9.50 an Hour by 2011: Barack Obama and Joe Biden believe that people who work full-time should not live in poverty. Even though the minimum wage will rise to $7.25 an hour by 2009, the minimum wage's real purchasing power will still be below what it was in 1968. President Obama will further raise the minimum wage to $9.50 an hour by 2011, index it to inflation and increase the Earned Income Tax Credit to make sure that full-time workers can earn a living wage that allows them to raise their families and pay for basic needs such as food, transportation, and housing -- things so many people take for granted.

My comment about automating people was an attempt at a joke (failed attempt). The task people perform are automated…not the people.
However, you may have something. It seems the Democratic Congress is almost automated. It appears that Obama has programmed them to do exactly what he wants. "

Not trying to diss you per se' but if you think about it: to raise the minimum wage (unskilled worker pay) means skilled workers get a raise. In order to pay the workforce these raised rates means they have to make up the difference by charging the consumer more for their services or product. NO company or business will eat these raises. They're in business for the profit (to make a living for their family) So you see, the poor remain poor, just at a higher price. "

Some of the "chain stores" have actually closed doors in some states, after the employees tried to start a union! Oh, and by the way, one of the companies that did this, posted ALL TIME record PROFITS that same year!
Yes, the company should be profitable, but if it does NOT treat it's employees well, maybe the thought of them going to the "dark side", I mean to a union, would help the "bosses" to better appreciate those whom they have working for them!! "

If the union does NOT work "down" to the "weakest link", it could be a powerful force to recon with!
At the same time, if the union DOES work "down" to the "weakest link", it will only corrupt the workers into being "poor performers".
Stop and think about this for a moment, how many people at Wal-Mart, or any grocery store, can buy themselves a house? In the area they want to live in?
So, if you made more, could you afford more?... "

Just to challenge your thoughts,
"Why not start a union"?
People seem to hate unions, but they cannot really say why! Some will tell you it is because they "force" you to go on strike, They make too much money, They take away the "bosses" rights.
Yeah, whatever!
Yes, union workers do make more than others in the same field. Yes, you may go on strike, this is done to show the boss that without the worker, they will not make any money either! BUT NO, it does NOT take away the "bosses" rights!... "

WOW, you really appreciate your employees.
First, if 15 of 18 employees are still at minimum wage then you must be a plantation owner.
Second, I don’t like the democrat’s spending either but I think your projected 100 percent unemployment may be a little off.
Third, I was glad to hear that you gave a start to thousands of people with no skills or education.
Fourth, is it legal to automate a person? "

Who in their right mind starts a family when they earn minimum wages? If you choose to done this, then do not expect me to provide support for your family through my taxes. You made the choice, then you have to live with it.
Cain't feed them, then don't bred them. "

Go ahead and increase the minimum wage to $9.50. I guarantee you that if you are worth less than $9.50, you will be unemployed.
The minimum wage is just another failing policy created by democrats. The results (unemployment) achieved are exactly opposite of the intentions (living wage).
Minimum wage earners, prepare for the Pain. It is coming! "
