Tannor Theriot, age 2 and 9 months, “had a lot of fun,” especially bouncing on a large work-out ball used for pilates, said his mother, Tyra Theriot.
Paige Lovett, 10, Mya Simmons, 9, and Isaiah Simmons, 6, had fun, too. They heard about it through their school.

Saturday was beautiful, with lots of boys amd girls coming out to play in the park — and in a fortunate twist for active kids, the day coincided with registration for the Evangeline Little League, also at the City Park.
Lucy Sorrel, project chair for the Junior Auxiliary, said more kids responded to this event than any others when they were held for the first time. Available events included those having to do with hygiene, like hair care and teeth-brushing, as well as a cartoon video that had kids surfing on towels in the Cyr-Gates Community Center, pilates, soccer and tasting of healthy foods, drinks and snacks like fruit, vegetables, V-8 and cheese.
“More than likely we’ll have it again,” said Sorrel. “It’ll be an ongoing project.”
Some of the Junior Auxiliary’s other events are Spring Blast at the West End Park, Field Day in Jeanerette, Aim for Success, an abstinence program for students in Iberia Parish, and Operation Hurricane, which has helped young people affected by the 2005 hurricanes.
