JEANERETTE — Three Franklin residents are dead following a head-on, two vehicle crash Sunday morning west of Baldwin.

Priscilla Williams, 41, of Franklin, her 15-year-old daughter and 42-year-old Leroy Williams, her brother, were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which took place just before 10 a.m. Sunday. The third victim was identified as Khadijah Williams by the St. Mary Parish Coroner’s Office.

Todd Vincent, 39, of Erath, was heading south on Louisiana 318 near the Four Corners area. He was approaching a right curve in the road when he collided head on with a Ford Taurus station wagon driven by Priscilla Williams, according to a Louisiana State Police press release.

State Police spokesman David Anderson said that Vincent, Priscilla Williams and her son were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, but Leroy Williams was not.

Although Williams took evasive action she was unable to avoid the collision, Anderson said. Both vehicles came to rest off the roadway, he said. Anderson said this morning that the crash is under investigation.

“It is unknown at this time what the speed of Mr. Vincent’s vehicle was at the time of the crash,” Anderson said.

Vincent was charged with driving left of center and operating a vehicle with an invalid drivers license. He was taken to a local hospital with minor to moderate injuries. Although test results from the State Police crime lab are now pending, alcohol and drugs are not suspected as being a factor in the crash, according to State Police.

The crash was one of three fatal crashes which took place in Acadiana over the weekend.

A chain-reaction from a head-on collision early Saturday morning on Louisiana 97 in Acadia Parish claimed three lives.

Anderson said drivers need to drive defensively.

“We need to pay attention to what we are doing when driving, especially when negotiating curves,” Anderson said.

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.

" This is for officer anderson. Defensive driving will not bring back anyone of my family members. I feel they tried to do all they could to avoid the accident. So tell me, when a vehicle is traveling at a high rate of speed in a curve, how can you avoid it? What i need officier anderson to do is, stop finding fault on how innocent bystandard should avoid accidents and be more concern on investigating Todd vincent driving. If anyone know's how to contact officer anderson, please forward this. "
