Delcambre nets first win of year

DELCAMBRE — Deon Jones, Lance Lindon and Ty Babin combined for 62 points as Delcambre picked up its first win of the year Friday, beating Assembly Christian 72-65 in a non-district game.

Jones and Lindon each scored 21 points and Babin added 20 for the Panthers, who trailed 23-14 at the end of the first quarter but slowly reeled in the Lions and took the lead for good in the final period.

Gunnar Robichaux scored a game-high 27 points and Keisuz Provost added 24 for the Lions (14-11).

ACS travels to Baton Rouge to play Louisiana School for the Deaf Tuesday while Delcambre plays host to Bethel Christian Tuesday.

Morgan City 69, Centerville 56

MORGAN CITY — Jacobie Brown scored 20 points as Morgan City beat Centerville Friday in a non-district game.

Corey Navaro added 18 points and Tremaine Francis chipped in 10 for the Tigers, who led 36-26 at halftime only to see Centerville cut the lead to 54-47 at the end of the third quarter.

But the Tigers (6-14) pulled away in the final period for the win.

Bryan Paul led Centerville with 18 points, while Quintus Williams and Jovan Sanders each had 12 points.

Centerville (11-15) opens District 8-B play Tuesday at Houma Christian.

ESA 64, Northside Chr. 48

CADE — Brandon Taylor had 14 points as ESA handled Northside Christian 64-48 in a non-district game Friday. Max Kallenberger added 11 for the Falcons (9-14), who led by two points, 43-41 at the end of the third quarter but pulled away in the final period for the win.

Pierce Rivera had 15 for the Warriors.

ESA plays host to Midland Tuesday.

St. Martinville 45, Teurlings 43

LAFAYETTE — Derek Gardner had 14 points as St. Martinville Senior High improved to a perfect 2-0 in District 5-4A with a 45-43 win over Teurlings Friday.

Terrance Linden added 10 for the Tigers (12-9 overall), who led 27-20 at halftime and held on despite a second half rally from Teurlings.

Taylor Papion led TCHS with 16 points and Andrew Hebert chipped in 14 for the Rebels in the district loss.

St. Martinville plays host to Northside Tuesday.

Erath 68, Asc. Episcopal 36

BROUSSARD — Josh PIllette had 14 points and Dason Bernard added 13 as Erath used a strong second quarter effort to blow past Ascension Episcopal 68-36 Friday in a non-district game.

Keenen Guidry added 12 and Mikey Seymour chipped in 11 for the Bobcats, who used a 23-6 second quarter run to pull away and cruised to the win.

Greg Trahan led Ascension with 11 points and Waylong Headley added 10 in the losing effort.

Erath is off Tuesday and plays host to Vermilion Catholic Friday.
