A Celebration of Life for Overseer Roland Jones, 43, will be held on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008, at 1 p.m. at Believers Family Worship Center in New Iberia with Bishop Larry L. Brandon Jr. officiating. He will await the resurrection at Mount Zion Baptist Cemetery in Petit Anse.

A native and resident of New Iberia, Overseer Jones passed on Friday, Dec. 12, 2008, at 3 p.m. at Iberia Medical Center.

Overseer Jones was pastor of Greater Rhema Full Gospel Baptist Church in New Iberia and Mount Zion Baptist Church in Petit Anse. He was a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity and 1983 graduate of New Iberia Senior High School. He played the tuba from junior high through high school. He was a member of the Union Sixth District Baptist Association. He was an Overseer with the Full Gospel Baptist Fellowship International and attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now ULL) for two years. He attended the Christian Life School of Theology in New Iberia and was a former employee at Security Industrial Life Insurance Company as an insurance agent.

Overseer Jones was a jolly person who enjoyed spending time with family and friends and touched many lives through his ministry.

A gathering of family and friends will begin on Friday, Dec. 19, 2008, from 4 to 9 p.m. at Greater Rhema Full Gospel Baptist Church in New Iberia with a 7 p.m. wake service, and resume on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008, from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral Home.

Cherishing his memories are his loving wife and Co-Pastor, Sharon V. Jones of New Iberia; two sons Emile Jolivet Jr. and Samuel Jones of New Iberia; Joshua Brooks (whom he reared as a son) of New Iberia; his brother Michael Walker Sr. (Velma) of New Iberia; two sisters Stacey Maneaux (Johnny Sr.) of New Iberia and Mary Lou Howard (James) of Lake Charles; one grandchild Ja’Mile Brooks of New Iberia; his great-uncle Junius Gaddison Sr. (Shirley) of New Iberia; his devoted church congregations at Greater Rhema Full Gospel Baptist Church and Mount Zion Baptist Church; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.

He joins in glory his parents, Leroy Jones and Mable Walker Jones; one sister Joyce Mae Latulas; four brothers Leroy Walker Jr., Eddie Jones, Wilton Walker and Harold Walker Sr.; maternal grandparents, Olivier and Bessie Gaddison Walker; and paternal grandparents, Rev. H. M. Jones and Julia L. Jones.

Active pallbearers are Michael Walker Jr., Edward Charles, Cleveland Latulas Jr., Brian Vital, Jeremy Vital and Dean Turner.

Honorary Pallbearers are Junius Gaddison Jr., Rev. Walter Jackson, Michael Walker Sr., Johnny Maneaux Sr., Emile Jolivet Jr., Samuel Jones, James Howard, Deacons of Mount Zion Baptist Church, Greater Rhema Full Gospel Baptist Church, Oliver Walker Jr., Jimmy Walker Sr., Sanders Walker, Murphy Henry, Joseph Walker Sr., Raleigh Jones and Elliot Jones.
