LAFAYETTE  — A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Oswald J. “Red” Provost, the former Therese Charpentier, 82, will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Broussard, with Father Keith Landry officiating. Visitation will be at David Funeral Home of Lafayette beginning on Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008, at 4 until 9 p.m., with a recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008 from 8 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Mausoleum.

Mrs. Provost was a native and resident of Broussard. After an extended illness, she passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, at 2:30 p.m. She was a graduate of St. Cecilia High School, and Our Lady of the Lake School of Nursing in Baton Rouge.

She was a parishioner of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and an active member of the Ladies Altar Society. Because of her devotion and love of the Blessed Mother, she founded the Ladies Rosary Group, who are still active today. She also founded Sacred Heart’s Bereavement Group with the help of Mrs. Bea Hodges.

Through her father and mother’s training, she carried on her skills of using herbs for medicinal remedies. With her nursing knowledge, her life was spent helping others.

Mrs. Provost is survived by her daughters Jennifer P. Primeaux and her husband, Richard, of Broussard and Jodie P. Viguerie and her husband, Steve, of Youngsville; her son Eric J. Provost of Broussard; grandchildren Brian Primeaux, Leslie A. Primeaux, Andrew S. Viguerie and Lauren Viguerie.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oswald J. “Red” Provost; parents, Joseph “Joe” Charpentier and Olive Racca Charpentier; and one sister Gert C. Girouard.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are her son, sons-in-law, grandsons and nephews Eric Provost, Richard Primeaux, Steve Viguerie, Andrew Viguerie, Brian Primeaux, Glenn Girouard and Raymond Girouard.

The family would like to especially thank Mrs. Lona Short for her years of care, devotion and love to their mother. They would also like to thank Liz Soigne, Loyce Thomas and Mary Duplantis for their help with her care. The family also acknowledges and thanks the IBC Group in Youngsville for her home health care and hospice care, especially Mr. Ryan Verret and nurses, Latonia, Christie, Debbie and Becky.
