According to an article in the Daily Iberian (12-22-08, “Where did bailout money go?”) it seems that it is exactly what our elected “representatives” have done with our money. They gave all those billions without any pre-conditions.
And for doing such a fine job, those people are now also rewarding themselves with a cost of living pay raise. In the meantime, I do not know too many of us who are getting any cost of living raise.

In addition, those banks and financial institutions who are receiving our money have the arrogance to pretend that it is not any of our business to know how the money is used. Some of them pretend to make us believe that they are not tracking this money.
Are we so stupid as to accept the idea that financial institutions are not tracking every penny of the money that goes through the system?
I am also wondering why there are so many people who are being foreclosed on when supposedly this money was supposed to prevent foreclosure for people who have been led to borrow more than they can afford to pay back. More and more it appears that those that we hire (elect) to “represent” us in governing the country are elitist, feeling that they are above the rules and restrictions that the rest of us have to abide by.
I do not know if there are any tax watchdog groups in existence, and initially our “representatives” were supposed to be our watchdogs, but I would like to find such a group in the hope that we can bring back some common sense to the system.
