Did you know?

I wondered if the general public was aware that there are inmates that work at the courthouse and the 911 center dressed in blue jeans and white shirts.  They are free to roam as they see fit in fact, often times they meet and greet the general public as if they were free men.  Many of these inmates have not been convicted yet and the ones that have been convicted carry quite an extensive criminal record.  I was just curious why the inmates that work on the road wear black and white jumpers so the public knows who they are and the ones that work at the courthouse and the 911 center don't.  To me, the inmates at the courthouse and the 911 center come in to contact with way more people than those that are assigned to road crews especially on court days!  Hey parents out there...did you know they were inmates?   By the way there is absolutely NO markings on the shirt or jeans stating the guys are inmates!

" The dress code is like it is so cause just remember how many people in the recent past working the court house have broken numerous laws ( theft & malfesiance) or are just ignorant of the laws. ( our so called legal experts for the council). Birds of a feather stick together. "

" So Ackal spent money dressing out several different inmates in black pants, white shirts, white tennis shoes, but now they wear inmate clothing. That part is great...but that's money that never had to be spent, they could have gone in inmate clothing from the first day. Ackal wants more money, but spending money that never needed to be spent is not the way to go about it And what about the new jackets that has Ackel's name on them...new jackets were issues just about a year ago. More money that did not need to be spent! "

" You have it all wrong. I don't visit the courthouse daily but I do know several people who work there. I don't have the means to run a background check on anyone and I know very little about the 911 center other than where it's located. Doesn't it concern you that you have a LEAK from insde the department? oh, by the way, I've never been a control officer. If people were happy they wouldn't be talking! "

" Let's see, you visit the courthouse almost daily, you were a control officer in the jail, and you say you have knowledge of the 911 center, the work release center, and the mechanics shop, you look up rap sheets, and you know who has and has not been convicted yet. Hmmmmmmmm, very interesting. Glad you're pleased with the change. "

I am NOT glad to hear that the inmates who work there are felons serving in excess of 10 years. In fact there is one there who is serving time for purse snatching. How is this a misdameanor? This is a violent crime and he should serve his time away from the general public, PERIOD "

The Forun does work, and you listened. I for one appreciate knowing that these are inmates, and not civilian maintenance workers like they sometimes portrayed themselves to be. "

" No, some have/are violent offenders. There was one that had a charge of domestic abuse...that's violent! Another had a 7 page rap sheet. Seven pages folks!! Most have been in and out of jail numerous times. public record. Go ask them their name, and then go look the charges up. Easily identifiable. Black pants, white shirts, white tennis shoes. "

" The inmates that works at work release iare allowed to wear civilian clothes Sweats, etc) under their black and white jumper. When they get there, the jumper comes off, and they look like any of the residents that live there. They go outside, play basketball, etc, and are only about 1/2 mile or so from the main road to freedom(hwy 90) You could pick them up, and never know they were inmates, and assist in an escape. "

I've checked the public records maybe you should practice what you preach! What's the difference a trustee at the courthouse convicted of a felonies or a sworn deputy in the mechanic shop convicted of felonies? "

" The inmates name is John Anderson but I'm sure the Daily Iberian won't print this so you do the home work! He is a habitual offender and yes he does have the sentence of 46 years. He has been in and out of prison for a very long time! May be the Daily Iberian would make a call to the jail and ask if he is a prisoner and maybe then they can ask what his charge is and what the length of sentence is if they don't want to post this. "

" Why would you allow a toddler to be in the court house anyway and if so you should be watching them. As for as a 46 years aggravated rape sentence, well on the average "most" dont give that many years for that type of crime. Get their name and go check public records..Again misdemeanor "

Anyone who doesn't have a life or death sentence, and has kept his or her nose clean, has an even chance of freedom within the first Obama term. "

" Its called repaying thier debt to society. Its a misdemenor crime they're in for not rape and murder. I guess would rather they do nothing to repay society just sit around and waste tax payer dollars. Oh yea, they are supervised but I guess rumors are a more exciting story. Do you understand why they are called trustee's? Wake up things are changing and if you don't like it you are free to move about the country. By the way you aern't the people working for the old company who cleaned the sheriff's office are you? It wasn't that good. "

What about the guy that goes to work release everyday as a trustee and is serving a 46 year sentence for Agrravated Rape? Do you feel safe knowing he is there all hours of the day and night in an unlcoked faciltiy? "

" They are NOT misdemeanor crimes! I would challenge you on this! In fact, ask any of them their names and walk to the clerk of court an look it up...You would be very surprised to know that YOUR "Big Boss" is using habitual offenders to facilitate the cleaning. By the way, I have no issue with them cleaning so there is no janitor service the problem I have is THEY ARE NOT IDENTIFIABLE AND NOT SUPERVISED!! "

Also they are under supervision, and the reason they wear what they wear is by choice of the big boss. Just like any trustee(and i am not taking up for criminals) there crimes are misdemenor crimes. "

The only time they are really under supercision is when they are brought to work, and taken back to jail in the afternoon. "

When I spoke to him, he answered me as if he was just an employed worker (maintence) I was not comfortable around him because of his history, and when I found out he is presently incarcerated, I was shocked. Why would the Sheriff have inmates dressed in civilian clothes working among the public? There was no supervision! "
