The always high-spirited Dale ventured out into the world at the tender age of 15, with his first job as a stocker of Robie’s Food Center.

After a short stint of working at the Port of Iberia, he followed the love of his life to Houston. On Aug. 17, 1984, he was united in holy matrimony with Judy M. Duplechin and not long after introduced his only child into the world, Candace M. Olivier.  He resided in Houston for 18 years and has been living in his hometown of Grand Marais for the past six years.

His father-in-law would become his guide into the business of painting, where he discovered his passion.  By the year 2001, Dale had started his own company, Olivier’s Painting Services, that would grow into a prosperous and fulfilling career.

Dale filled his free time with cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, fishing, just hanging with the guys and counting down the days until Mardi Gras.  He was a proud member of the Mardi Gras club formerly known as Awesome 8.

Dale devoted his life to providing for his family and friends.  He will be greatly missed.

He departed this life on Sunday, Dec. 28, 2008, in Houston at MD Anderson Cancer Center, after battling cancer for a little more than a year.

He was preceded in death by his father, Murphy J. Olivier; his brother Peter D. Olivier; his brother in-law Eric Duplechin; and his grandparents, Joseph B. and Myrtle Olivier, Joseph and Boretha Boutte, and Herman and Lucy Delahoussaye.

Cherishing his fond memories, Dale leaves his wife, Judy M. Olivier, a native of Houston; a devoted daughter Candace M. Olivier of Houston; mother, Elaine Olivier of Grand Marais; one brother Andre Olivier (Monica) of Grand Marais; one sister Latacia Johnson (Amos) of Grand Marais; two sisters-in-law Peggy James (Melvin) of Houston, Courtney Duplechin of Houston; two brothers-in-law Gerald Duplechin (Linda) of Round Rock and Gary Duplechin (Sheila) of Houston; father- and mother-in-law, Howard Duplechin and Lula Mae Broussard Duplechin of Breaux Bridge; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Active pallbearers will be Benjamin Olivier, Andre Olivier, Nathan Broussard, Keith Bacon, Kermit Frilot and Peter Boutte.

Honorary pallbearers will be Reggie Below, Herman Broussard, Eddie Decoux, Gary Duplechin, Gerald Duplechin, Theola Jackson, Amos Johnson, III, Melvin James, Toby Norris, Brian Olivier, Tre‚ Olivier, Stephen Raggette, Luke Tauriac and Ray Thomas.
