Man injured in crash on Capt. Cade

An Abbeville man riding a motorcycle was severely injured in Iberia Parish Monday after a teenager pulled out in front of him on Captain Cade Road, a spokesman for the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office said.

Randy Bouffannie, 55, was airlifted to Lafayette General Medical Center with severe injuries where he remained in intensive care this morning. Hospital officials declined to release his condition.

Bouffannie, who was driving a black Harley Davidson, attempted to swerve out of the way of a tan 2006 Ford pickup turning off Romero Road, said Sheriff’s Office spokesman Capt. Wendell Raborn.

Bouffannie lost control of his motorcycle and slid head on into a 2003 Ford pickup, driven by John Breaux of Maurice, in the opposite lane.

The teen, a 16-year-old New Iberia man whose name was withheld because he is a juvenile, was cited for failure to yield while turning left.

No further injuries were reported in the crash.
