Can't We All Just... Get Along

The new sheriff had not been in office a month when he was slammed on this forum because of the crime going on in the parish. There have been many unreasonable comments along these lines. Is this from people who have a city police versus IPSO grudge? A Louis Ackal versus Sid Hebert grudge? Or rather, are these people simply clueless? For the sake of argument, let us assume that Louis Ackal is not just a good sheriff, let's go all out and assume that he is the best sheriff in the country. Are there any of you that thinks a great sheriff takes over and wanted criminals walk into the sheriffs office and turn themselves in? Other people who are planning to rob a convenience store say "oh wait, I can't do a robbery because we now have SuperSheriff."  I see the same thing with Obama. Many people seem to think he is magic. Once Obama takes over it will be all rainbows and unicorns. Grow up people. Obama may do a good job, but change comes slowly. Those of you old enough, remember when Jimmy Carter left office. The economy was messed up, 21% interest rates. Reagan comes in, and because of things he implemented, things turned around. But it did not happen OVERNIGHT. Give the new sheriff a chance. If after four years we don't like what he is doing we can't vote him out, I know I will. But as of today, he seems to be doing a good job, and he has my support. I have heard him slammed because he "decided to audit former sheriff Hebert."  URRRRRRRRRRNT!!!! Wrong answer, thanks for playing.  We have a years supply of Turtle Wax for you as a consolation prize.  The government requires that audit.  Not his idea. From what I have seen, he seems like he is cut from the mold of sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County, Arizona. If that is the case, I hope he is sheriff for life.

" What is wrong with you people in Iberia Parish. You just got a newly elected Sheriff. Give him a chance. Iberia Parish has one of the worst reps out there, as for as a town. It did not get that way over night, it will not get cleaned up over night. What you should all be doing is pulling together to support the new sheriff & clean up the town. Run the thuggs out of town, lock up the druggies & take pride in your town. Make it safe.... "

And the week before that, they found some weed in a trusty another trusty dorm, and the inmates got put on lockdown for a week. No charges in 16th Judicial court, no sending them to DOC to have good time taken from them...just a little slap on the wrist! "

Plain and simple! "

Until Ackal stops whining like a baby whose bottle has been pulled about what ever he thinks Hebert did or didn't do (real or imagined) we will keep pointing out his irrationality (and yours). Moreover, I have never initiated a post on this subject. I simply respond to those initiated by the obviously ignorant. I doubt you can appreciate such subtlety though. "

The Hebert supporters moved on when he left office the difference here is ACKAL HAS NOT MOVED ON!!! "

These officers are the ones catching the criminals in our community by the leads of the boss, Sheriff Ackal. Great job done by all and I hope Ackal does turn into another Sheriff Joe Apario from Arizona. Iberia parish needs to be known for solving crimes not just crimes turning into cold cases. Sheriff Ackal, please find the killer of Ms. Carrie Billeaud and others that are cold.

" I just help but call you out on the last part of your phrase. You take a superior attitude while actually proving to be completely clueless. A simple search on this website will show and article just recently explaining that Ackal "ORDERED" the audit it was not mandatory. When Ackal was mouthing off about how he expected to find something criminal the Ackal supporters were silent and hopeful. Now that he has his foot in his mouth you all are whining, COMICAL AT BEST! Class dismissed "

voice of reason wrote on Dec 11, 2008 9:34 PM:

" You must be blitzed for sure, or just ignorant of the law. There was no legal requirement for this audit, it duplicated what had already been done, and was paid for with tens of thousands of borrowed dollars (enough to buy at least 2 police cars). The reason it was done can only be answered by Ackal. If you think he is doing a good job, good for you, but he could be doing even better if he chased the thugs with the same ferocity with which he is chasing the shadows of sheriffs past. "
