Ackal Is a One Termer

Crime Stoppers

Why did we all voted for Louis Ackal? Because we wanted - change - something different from the former administration. Ackal was perceived as a cowboy who would come in and kick some butt and get criminals off the streets.

What are we getting from Louis Ackal? Burglaries on a regular basis - even the Mayor's house has been burglarized twice (I wonder if that has anything to do with the new raise that Louis is seeking from the City); Cops on bikes assaulting and beating up civilians for the Sugarcane Festival; criminals attempting to kill cops. The list goes on and on.

The truth is that Louis hired a bunch of his buddy ex-state troopers and they're just collecting a check. The ex-troopers are lazy and all they do is praise Louis, tell him what a wonderful job he's doing and kiss up to him so they don't actually have to do anything.

Right now, it seems that Louis's only concern is how many magazines the former administration bought. Louis is more concerned with trying to get Sid than he is with the crime in this Parish.

" I dont care who our sheriff is......Ackal, Landry, Hebert, I DONT CARE! What I do care about is being new to New Iberia and hearing about all the crime. The sad thing is that if it were not for a public forum as this, we would not hear too much about the crime. I pray that we all stay safe and these huge problems are solved in a timely manner. "

" I too feel like Louis is spending a lot of effort to attack Sid. I thought I was the only one who saw this happening. Who cares about the magazines!? Just stop the subscriptions. If he really wants to make a change, then do it and stop laying blame. It's a mute point now. "

" You, sir or madam, or wrong. It takes time to clean up upteen years of neglect. That is EXACTLY what Hebert did while in office. He neglected his duties and now Louis Ackal has to clean it up. He, so far, has taken care of 3 bad apples from Hebert's crew. Notice that all that have been either arrested or disciplined are young, not the older troppers he has brought in. So think a bit before you go bashing Ackal! "

" I would not be surprised to find out if all these burglaries are from within the department itself. Sheriff Ackal needs to watch his back because deputies within his own department that don't like him will get revenge and do anything to make him look bad. Also, even if IPSO arrests criminals, it takes a strond DA office to prosecute the crimes. THAT IS WHAT WE ARE LACKING!! The DA office drops the ball everytime..... they only seem to want to prosecute the murders, rapes, etc...and not the little crimes that lead up to the big.crimes....shame..on..our..DA..office....Good..luck..Sheriff..Ackal "
