Travis Trahan, 24, was driving west on Louisiana 14 just after 4:30 p.m. when, for unknown reasons, his truck sideswiped a Honda Accord traveling in the same direction, said Trooper David Anderson, spokesman for the Louisiana State Police.
Trahan’s truck then struck the back of an Iberia Parish School Board school bus not carrying any children and caused all three vehicles to veer off the road into the grass median.

Trahan, who was trapped in the truck, was pronounced dead at the scene and had to be extricated from his vehicle. Alcohol and drugs are not suspected in the crash, Anderson said, but routine chemical tests will be conducted.
The crash occurred in front of a mobile home park and several residents watched the scene unfold from their front yards or vehicles.
The wreck stopped westbound traffic for several minutes as first responders scrambled to clear debris from the roadway.
Delcambre Fire Department responders battled strong winds for several minutes in trying to keep a blue tarp over Trahan’s body. Each time it blew off, they lined up to shield his body from passers-by.
