Ella H. Boudreaux Trahan

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mrs. Murphy Trahan, the former Ella Hoffpauir Boudreaux, 84 at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.  Fr. Salvino “Rueben” Primor will be the celebrant.  Interment will follow at Holy Family Mausoleum.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m., with the recitation of the rosary at 6:30 p.m.  The funeral home will reopen on Tuesday from 8 a.m. until service time.

A native of Indian Bayou, longtime resident of New Iberia and recently living in Fruitland, New Mexico, Mrs. Trahan passed away at 8:30 p.m Friday Nov. 28, 2008, at Dauterive Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Trahan was retired from the Iberia Parish School Board, having been a cafeteria worker at various schools in the parish.  In the past, she and her first husband Alton owned and operated the Single Oaks Lounge, and she sat with the elderly. 

Mrs. Ella was a faithful parishioner and Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.  She had many pastimes, such as crocheting and dancing; but her greatest love was her family and the time spent with them.  Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her husband, Murphy Trahan of Fruitland, N.M.; her six children, Sharon Provost, Ronnie Boudreaux and wife Carolyn, Rickey Boudreaux and wife Kathy, and Roddy Boudreaux all of New Iberia, and Charlene Boudreaux and Michael David Sr. and wife Eileen of St. Martinville; a step-son, Joseph Meaux; son-in-law, Ronnie Provost Sr.; grandchildren, Ronnie Provost, Jr.and wife Shannon, Wayne Provost and wife Jody, Shara Sonnier and husband Patches, Jaime Guillot and wife Sandra, Joshua Guillot, Michelle Boudreaux, Monique Fremin and husband Blaze, Genee’ Bujard, Shane David, Shawnee Williams and husband Jason, Michael David Jr., and Chase, Colby and Colin Boudreaux; great grandchildren, Chaz Provost, Alynn Comeaux, Hannah Provost, Alexis Sonnier, Brandon Romero, Christian and Cody Guuillot, Zack and Morgan Fremin, William Bujard, Jr., Brock Bujard, Luke Bernard, Caleb David, and Jacob and Madison Williams; her sister Dorothy H. “Dot” Lopez; and her sisters and brothers in law, Ray Lopez, Shirley Hoffpauir, Una Mae Hoffpauir, Alice Muffoletto, Bernice “Coon” Segura, Claudia Viator, Louise Derouen, Mildred Racheau, Dorris Suire and Ralph Trahan, and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her 1st husband, Alton Boudreaux, her parents, Julian and Coralee Delahoussaye Hoffpauir; grandson, Brock Boudreaux; great granddaughter, Kaitlyn Guillot; her brothers and sisters, Junius, Joseph, Percy and Aristile Hoffpauir, Helen Girouard, Mary Segura, Eurine Bouillion, and Olita and Alita Hoffpauir; and sister in law, Vergie Lasalle.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Provost Jr., Wayne Provost, Jaime and Josh Guillot, Shane David and Chase Boudreaux.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie, Rickey, and Roddy Bodreaux, Mike David Sr., Ronnie Provost Sr., Colby and Colin Boudreaux, Chaz Provost, Christian and Cody Guillot, Brandon Romero and Patches Sonnier.
