Is religion necessary?

Being an atheist, religious people automatically assume I have no morals. A woman told me last week that if she did not believe in god she would do bad and illegal things. I responed with " I do not need a god in my life to be a good person."  Religious people think that since they believe in a god or jesus that they are automatically a good person. They end up doing horrible things and later they just tell a preist they are 'sorry' and they think they are going to go to a better place when they die. On the other hand, because I do not beleive in jesus, but am a person with great morals, they think that I should spend my afterlife in a firery pit of doom. Why is this so?  It seems like religion is just an excuse people use when there is something they can not explain.

" I believe that "Jesus" was a real person and what he did was Awesome. I believe that most people only grasp pieces of what he did. Most people won't understand the SACRIFICE because "christians" but Majic(miracles) under a category of "limitation". But, actually, Life itself is a Miracle. It's Majick that our Spirit stays attached to this Flesh body. Hopefully the world will change and Awaken soon. I have a strong feeling that it will take Prophetic fulfillment.i.e. 1/3 of the population to die before we see this though. Love to all things is what really matters. Praises to Yeshua!!!!! "

I am a "christian"; believer in Yeshua H'mashiakh and The M-Theory in Quantum physics. Truth has opened my eyes to all that is! Science and religion both are paths to find the Ultimate Truths in Life...I walk both and found that the Holy Kaballah is the Key to Understanding Everything. Christians, for the most part, have poisoned the ideals that the Messiah set up. Hallellujeshuahmeshiakh! Amen! "

But, I do believe there is "A Creator" He calls himself "I Am" Even He was not too much into old rituals or ancient traditions. He understands that things within the human race are always evolving into new realms. You can read his story in the Holy Bible. Just remember that it's all about our attitude and our desire to find out the real truth. It's your journey, so make the most of it. "

Saying that the Black race evolved from "apes" and not explaining where all the races evolved from is also an excuse unexplained. Since the beginning of time a mixture of any species have not evolved into any particular race or species. The fact that two brothers can give DNA samples and only one proves positive in a paternity case is proof that we were all individually created by a higher being. "

Many of our good deeds will burn to ash, only the pure will remain. He will say either “Well done my good and faithful servant” or “Be gone, I knew you not!” no matter how much you gave in the offering, or charitable works you did.

It is your choice, a right given to you by God. You serve only one master, if it’s not God, then Beelzebub is your master. "

To be a Christian does not mean that we are perfect, just forgiven when we fail. The bible tells us that many GOOD men/women will split h~ll wide open, this place that you don’t believe exists. It’s not an experience you want to have, and once you die, that’s it. No more choices. Your choices are in the here and now. "

After all shouldn't gays get the "same respect", and same rights, bestowed upon you and other heterosexual consenting adults when you were born into U. S. citizenship into this country? Especially if they are "a good person" like you said? "

" As an atheist you should not judge every Christian by your experiences with a few. As Christians we believe in the word of God, and try our best to live accordingly. No one is perfect, no one! We all fall short of the glory of God, and that makes us all sinners. The only perfect person was Christ! So as a person who fails, and is a sinner- I do not go to anyone but the Lord for forgiveness of my sins! You will be judged just as I will be on judgment day! "

Though I do not subscribe to their religions, I would have the respect to capitalize the names of Budda and Mohamad. Ironically, you capitslize the word Atheist when refering to youself in the "by line", which is rather strange, since an Atheist believes in nothing. "
