Yellow Jackets lose in double overtime

JENNINGS -- Lake Arthur rallied from a 3-point deficit in the fourth quarter to send its game with New Iberia Senior High into overtime Thursday at the Jennings Tournament, then outscored the Yellow Jackets in the second overtime to claim a 67-65 win over NISH.

Harold Roberts scored 19 points and Kendale Thomas added 17 points and 18 rebounds for the Jackets. Trent Gaddison added 12 points and Jelani Benoit had 10 for the NISH, which trailed by 5 points after one quarter. After going into halftime tied at 21 apiece, NISH took a 33-30 lead heading into the fourth quarter. Regulation ended at 45-45 and the score after one overtime period was 54-54.

New Iberia (1-2) will play St. Louis at 4 p.m. Saturday in the third-place game.

Durrell Prudhomme led Lake Arthur with 32 points.

Franklin 65, Jeanerette 62, OT

CENTERVILLE -- Demondre Wiggens and Alan Harding each scored 14 points as Franklin survived a second half Jeanerette rally to beat the Tigers in overtime in the Tournament of the Teche at Centerville High School.

Chase Boykins added 10 points for the Hornets, who led 32-23 at halftime only to see JSH come back in the second half to tie the game 53-53 at the end of regulation.

Franklin then outscored JSH 12-9 in the extra period for the win.

Gerrell Jean Louis led JSH with 19 points. Kurt Bouie added 15 and JaBryson Sophus had 14 for the Tigers.

Jeanerette will play Berwick at 3:30 p.m. today while Franklin will play Centerville at 8 p.m.

Catholic High 57, Hanson 26

ERATH -- Quinn Lemieux and Jordan June each scored 12 points as Catholic High beat Hanson Thursday in the Erath Tournament.

Corey Brodie and Aaron LeBlanc each added 9 points for the Panthers, who bolted out to a 15-3 first quarter lead.

Individual scorers for Hanson were not available.

Centerville 67, Berwick 29

CENTERVILLE -- Jovan Sanders scored 17 points as Centerville took care of Berwick Thursday in the Tournament of the Teche.

T.J. Kemp added 16 for the Bulldogs (6-4) who jumped out to a 40-19 lead at halftime.

Deonte Thomas led Berwick with 10 points.

Westminster 66, Assembly Christian 61

OPELOUSAS -- Ralph Fontenot scored 26 points as Westminster Christian Academy beat Assembly Christian Thursday in the Westminster Round Robin Tournament.

Jacob Taylor added 19 for the Crusaders, who trailed 38-30 at halftime.

Gunner Robicheaux led ACS (4-7) with a game-high 32 points. Josh Russon added 16 and Keisuz Provost chipped in 9.

Assembly Christian will play at Houma Christian tonight, then return to finish the Westminster Round Robin Tournament Saturday against St. Joseph’s at 2 p.m.
