Gerard C. Lancon

LYDIA — A memorial Mass will be conducted Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008, at 11 a.m. for Gerard C. Lancon, 48 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Lydia. A private interment will follow in St. Nicholas Cemetery in Patoutville. There will be a gathering of family and friends at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Lydia beginning Thursday morning at 8 a.m. with a Rosary being prayed at 10 a.m. followed by the service.

He died Monday, Nov. 17, 2008, at 5:14 p.m. in a Lafayette hospital.

A lifelong resident of Lydia, Gerard enjoyed being with family. Gerard was an accomplished vocalist who sang for many funerals and other occasions. Gerard was an employee of Amelia Manor nursing home for several years.

Survivors include his father, Roy H. Lancon, of Lydia; brother Mark Lancon and wife, Tina, of Lydia; sister Christine L. Colvin and husband, Marty, of San Antonio; special cousin Janie Viator of New Iberia; nephews and nieces Nicholas Lancon and Emily Lancon and Tyler Landry all of Lydia, Morgan Lancon of St. Martinville, Aubrie and Alec McDaniel, Morgan Colvin and Bailey Colvin all of San Antonio; a great-niece Emberlee Domingue of Lydia; and his special pet J.R.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce Bertrand Lancon; his paternal grandparents, Ovide Sr. and Laticia Lancon; and his maternal grandparents, Authemond and Loda Bertrand.
