Dore, 51, answered question that last weekend by dominating the two-day Catahoula Bass Association Classic in the Atchafalaya Basin. The carpenter took a comfortable lead on Saturday with five bass weighing 13.39 pounds and clinched it with an eye-opening stringer of five bass weighing 16.55 pounds Sunday.
His two-day total of 29.94 pounds was far ahead of the nearest challenger, Jimmy Blanchard, who had 22.05 pounds. Kip Theriot was third with 20.32 pounds; Jeremy Moore fourth with 19.57 pounds, and Randal Savoy fifth with 18.76 pounds.

A spinnerbait accounted for 12 keepers the first day and about 25 keepers the second day, he said.
“They’re feeding big time on shad right now. It really looks food for the Basin. I thought the hurricane hit it hard. It doesn’t look that bad ... not as bad as Henderson. It’s really good to see all those fish in there.”
Dore also cruised to the CBA’s 2008 Angler of the Year title by winning six of 10 bass club tournaments. It was his second title since winning his first one with the CBA in 2001.
He also has an Angler of the Year title to his credit in the Louisiana Bass Cats in 2006.
But Dore said he was runner-up in the overall standings in both the CBA and LBC in 2007. That didn’t sit well with him.
“I concentrated on Catahoula this year. It’s kind of hard to find enough fish to do that (be competitive in two bass clubs the same year). It worked out pretty good for me,” he said.
Dore said this individual title was sweet because he fished most of the tournaments by himself.
The key was sticking to a predetermined location and waiting for the bass to start biting, he said.
