Gladys R. Landry

Funeral services will be conducted for Mrs. Alwin I. Landry Sr., the former Gladys Theresa Rabeaux, 87, Monday Nov. 17, 2008, at 11 a.m. at David Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Theo Landry officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008, from 3 until 10 p.m. with a Rosary being prayed at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume Monday from 8 a.m. until service time.

She died Friday, Nov. 14, 2008, at 9:11 p.m. in a local hospital.

Mrs. Landry was a native of Youngsville and longtime resident of New Iberia. She enjoyed cooking, playing bingo and being with her family.

Survivors include four daughters Betty L. Trahan and husband, Paul Sr., of Coteau, Ellena Faye L. Poirrier of Youngsville and Laura L. Smith and husband, Bobby, of Lydia; one son Al Landry and wife, Linda, of Centerville; one brother Robert L. Rabeaux of New Iberia; three sisters Hazel R. Sutherland of Framingham, Mass., Lorraine R. Oneal and Elizabeth R. Boutte both of Lafayette; 20 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alwin “Lil Bit” I. Landry Sr.; daughter Jacqueline L. Wiggins; parents, Joseph and Marie Touchet Rabeaux; sisters Eunice R. Besse, Lillian Rabeaux, Louise R. Gary, Louisa R. Vincent, Winnie R. Broussard and Barbara R. Blanchard; and one brother Davis Rabeaux; her great-grandson Ryan Paul Trahan; sons-in-law Gerald John Poirrier and Robert Allen Wiggins Sr.

Pallbearers will be Paul Trahan Jr., Todd Trahan, Scott Irwin, Dale Thibodeaux, Ian Smith, Bobby and Heath Wiggins. Honorary pallbearers will be Anthony “Nick” Poirrier, Logan Breaux, Dean Wiggins, Robert Rabeaux, Al Landry and Brock Smith.
