Funeral Services will be conducted for Mr. Woodrow “Mr. Woody” Wilson Staton, 91, at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. Roland Fontenot officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park mausoleum. Visitation will be from 4 until 9 p.m. today and 8 a.m. until time of service Tuesday.

He died at 3:35 p.m. Saturday November 1, 2008 in a local hospital.

A native of Sharondale, Ky. and longtime resident of New Iberia Mr. Staton was a member of the Gideon’s. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church having helped build the Church at its present location and served God and his Church as a Deacon. He loved life and enjoyed being with people and everyone who knew him loved “Mr. Woody.” He also enjoyed hunting and going to the Flea Market.

Survivors include two daughters; Naomi Dautreuil and husband Herman of St. Martinville and Shirley Moore and husband Charlie of New Iberia, one son; David Staton and wife Carol of Winder, Ga., 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife; Virginia Six Staton, parents; Willard and Laura Reed Staton, children; Louise Dupuy, Mary Alice Staton and Curtis Staton, brothers; Willie, Carl, Troy and James Staton, Inis Harmon, Fannie Williamson, Gladys Slack, Zenna Ferguson, Mildred Blackburn, Alice Felty and Virginia Hazel Staton and one grandchild; Donna Glover.

Pallbearers will be Buddy and Mark Dautreuil, Charlie Moore Jr., Timothy Moore, Davey and Johnathan Staton. Honorary pallbearers will be Bryan Staton and Buddy Berthelot.
