The shooting suspect, described as a slender black man wearing a red and white striped shirt, entered T&B Grocery Store at 1300 St. Jude Ave. around 7 p.m., brandished a handgun and demanded money, Capt. Wendell Raborn, public information officer for the Sheriff’s Office, said.
The store owner, Tei Lam, 47, refused to hand over the money and instead retrieved a handgun of his own, Raborn said, and a shoot-out ensued. Lam was shot once in the abdomen and was later taken to Iberia Medical Center, where he was in intensive care as of this morning.

Lam and his brother-in-law Tom Truong were involved in a similar incident in March when two would-be armed robbers entered the same store wearing masks and wielding a gun and a pipe.
Lam and Truong foiled that attempted holdup as well, chasing both suspects out of the store with a gun. One of the two suspects left behind his mask, pipe and a shoe.
Anyone with any information about Tuesday’s shooting or the suspect’s whereabouts can call the Sheriff’s Office at 369-3711.

I am praying for a speedy recovery for you! I do pray you have NO long term problems associated with your shooting! May God watch over you and your family!
To IPSO,
Maybe you can run a firearms course for store owners? Do you have someone who could train them while they are under stress? It could help change the tide during store robberies! "

Negro a term referring to people of Black African ancestry. Prior to the shift in the lexicon of American and worldwide classification of race and ethnicity in the late 1960s, the appellation was accepted as a normal neutral formal term both by those of Black African descent as well as non-African blacks. Now it is often considered an ethnic slur although the term is considered archaic and is not common as a racist slur. The term is still used in some contexts for historical reasons such as in the name of the United Negro College Fund. "Negro" means "black" "

There will always be racial slurs.
You should be secure in what you are and not take offense to these, unless the shoe fits. Look the "N" word up in the dictionary. Appalled or not, the guy who robbed the store owner, be he yellow black or white, IS, the "N" word. 3rd grade teacher, read the childrens book "Clothes Make the Man". Message taught at a very early age. We are what we choose to be.
P.S. can you spell check this for me please. "

Asian people have accomplished a lot in the pass 40 years. They have “ASSIMILATED” in family, religion, work and wealth.
Where as the American Niggro has not “ASSIMILATED” they continue to tear apart there family, religion, cities and government. I am in no way talking about 100% of the people, but a large percentage. If the American niggro had taken the simple steps Asian people did, Dr. MLK would be smiling in his grave.
