Why is the Daily Iberian so biased against LSU in favor of UL?
By LSU Girl
Published/Last Modified on Monday, October 20, 2008 5:27 AM CDT
Everytime I come home from Baton Rouge and pick up the Daily Iberian I get slightly angry. In the sports section LSU is always overshadowed by UL. If LSU won a football game the paper would read something similar to LSU barely wins; on the other hand if UL loses (which seems to always be the case) the paper would read: UL is almost victorious! Why does this happen? Can't UL fans be happy for LSU versus just being jealous?

Ever since ULaLa changed their name, they have been on this kick about trying to be the top dog in the state. Newsflash people, LSU is and always will be the flagship school. ULaLa needs to just accept that. "

As for me, I went to UL and have no use for LSU. "

My negative comments about supporting LSU was not to those that honestly say they support both, it's those that support the flagship only that have no connection, of course it easy to support the biggest, don't walk around with a feeling of connnection though, you have none! We are Louisiana-GeauxCajuns "

To those who have graduated from UL and support LSU instead, SHAME ON YOU. Do you not realize that by supporting UL you are putting money back into your own degree? The more recognition UL gets, the more your degree is worth. "

Support Louisiana schools - EVERYONE. Stop downgrading a university because you feel that programs rank higher at another - or that they are "overrated" - whatever that means. Just be thankful that LA has several outstanding universities for every recent HS grad to chose from. Finally a triumph that won't send people OUT of LA! "

I am one that STRONGLY believes.... let me repeat that, STRONGLY believes that LSU IS EXTREMELY OVERATED! UL is by far a way better community! Besides we should respect any college in LOUISIANA be it a Technical, Community or a University. Thats the problem with society now days, nobody pulls together. Its either Black/White, Democrat/Republican, Straight/Gay, Clever/Dumb. We all fight over the the most bizzare issues when we should all just come together and be respectful to everyone. Unfortunately it will never be that way. God Bless. "
