Christmas Soilder

For quite a few years, my family, friends and I have adopted a local soldier that is serving overseas in the war effort. We support all of our troops, but we  like to have someone from Iberia Parish.

We send “our soldier” Christmas decorations for their tent, Cajun items, as well as all of the things they normally request (eye drops, hand wipes, beef jerky, Cajun seasoning, hot sauce, magazines etc.) My sister-in-law (sister in my heart) runs a child care facility, and her kids really get into it. It is so touching to see the little children make their own Christmas cards and letters to “their soldier”. The response from the soldiers is very heartwarming.

The reason for this letter is to request from you readers help in finding our Christmas Soldier. If anyone has the name and address of someone serving in the war effort, please e-mail Connie (conniejchambers@yahoo.com) or Sandy(sgachassin@cox.net). If we get more than one name and some other family wants to adopt a Christmas Soldier, they can also e-mail us and we will forward the needed information.

With the shape our country is in, and with the election monopolizing the news, our troops are getting little if any attention. Let’s show our troops that the Cajuns have not forgotten them. God Bless America!
