Together for musical enjoyment Two organizations dedicated to the preservation of the enjoyment of music came together Sunday for an afternoon of music at New Iberia Senior High School The event was the second in the concert season for the Iberia Community Concert Association, which is celebrating 61 years of community service. The performers were the Iberia Community Band, a long-time venue for musicians from high-school age to 80 and above. Dave Baker, long-time master of ceremonies for the Iberia Community Band, said selections the band played included tributes to Glenn Miller and Frank Sinatra as well as favorites from “Hello Dolly,” the ’50’s and tunes from Walt Disney favorites. The association’s next concert will feature The Boogie Kings on Jan. 23, 2009, at the New Iberia Senior High School auditorium. The Iberia Community Band will present its Holiday Concert Dec. 14 at the Sugar Cane Festival Building. |
