A Coteau man is facing vehicular homicide and other charges, following a fatal two-vehicle wreck on U.S. 90 Saturday evening in Iberia Parish.

Anthony Tyler, 24, of 2416 Snapper Road, Coteau, is charged with one count each of vehicular homicide, driving while impaired, disobeying stop sign, expired license plate, and first-degree vehicular injuring. The crash took place at approximately 9 p.m. at the intersection of Estis Road and U.S. 90, according to the Louisiana State Police.

Tyler was traveling north on Estis Road approaching a stop sign at the same time Alfred Coleman, 58, of Jeanerette, was traveling westbound on U.S. 90 in the right lane approaching Estis Road. Tyler failed to stop at the intersection and entered U.S. 90, according to the state police.

Tyler braked hard, but skidded across U.S. 90 eastbound, the crossover and entered the path of Coleman’s vehicle, which then struck Tyler’s vehicle. Coleman was pronounced dead at the scene, however Tyler did not sustain injuries as a result of the crash.

Tyler was booked into the Iberia Parish Jail and released the following day on $50,000 bond. LSP Public Information Officer David Anderson said this morning the case is still under investigation.

" I was in an accident similiar to this one. they said that I ran the red light, when I am 100% sure I didn't. I don't drink or do drugs.I slamed into a car and the other driver got killed. The other driver was drinking and driving. But I got the charges against me for running a red light. At court the family wanted to know why I didn't go and pay my respects.I know that I wouldn't of been welcomed there, and my lawyer told me not to go. " And I'm sure he didn't go to pay respects to the family. But even if he would have, do you really think it would have made a difference? No, he wouldn't have been welcome and had another situation to deal with. Not everybody has all the facts about this case and is only assuming they know it all. This is his first situation like this, I could understand if it was more than that. And what he puts on a internet website doesn't have anything to do with this case. So why even bring it up. "

" This was a very unfortunate accident. This could have very well happened to someone who had not had a drink at all, that is why it is called an accident. All of you act like you are perfect and have never made mistakes or bad decisions in life, we can only pray that this guy learns from this accident. And for those talking about how he was in school..Gosh, how long ago was that?? I think we are not in high school anymore. People can and do change, he is now a father and in The National Guard and works. "

" I suppose that I passed near the intersection within 5-10 minutes of the accident. Saw several state troopers en route to the accident on U.S. 90.

The only reason I'm posting about it - is to remind everyone (and myself) to please take extra precautions to drive defensively on 90. As we all know, it's a dangerous roadway with 65 mph speed limits (and people turning on-and-off of the highway).

Slow down and keep a watchful eye, because 90 is a breeding ground for accidents. "

Check out the common site on the internet that young people use to communicate.... his general interest is to be socially intoxicated... along with other alcohol related pics, that are still posted. You would think after something like this happens, that would have changed. But I guess he thinks he is untouchable. "

Every time his trial comes up he has a doctors excuse just so he doesn't have to go. Needs surgery or therpy different things. He knows that if he doesn't keep putting off its jail time. So people do different things to stay out of jail. "

So Anonymous, answer this question. if a loved one of yours was killed by a drunk driver (that was a great person inside) would that make it ok????

And to JESS, YES, it is Tony Tyler... "

I do believe that Tony should be held accountable for his actions. "
