Victor's Cafeteria Big Table

Eavesdropper

I was in Victor's this morning sitting next the to the big table where the gossipers meet ever Friday. Today's topic was the next local elections and who was running for what seat. According to the local know it alls, here's the talk.

Taylor Barras - Parish President, Representative

Pat Caffery - Parish President

Simone Champagne - Parish President, Representative

Hilda Curry - Mayor, Parish President, Senate

Freddie Decourt - Mayor, Parish President, Senate

David Ditch - Mayor Pro Temp, Parish Council

Dan Doerle - Mayor Pro Temp, Parish Council

Jerome Fitch - Representative

Naray Hulin - Representative

Jeff Landry - Senate

Tommy Landry - Parish Council, Senate

Shane Romero - Mayor Pro Temp, Representative, Judge

Therese Segura - Parish Council

Many want Barras to be Parish President. Some thought it should be Decourt or maybe Hilda but they've heard Caffery's name and thought he'd be good too.

The talk for Senate was Decourt against Hebert or a rematch between Hebert and Jeff Landry. Tommy Landry also seems to be interested in running against Hebert.

Some said that Romero is up for a rematch with Barras for Representative but that he'd look at Judge since some have mandatory retirement.

Doerle is looking at Mayor Pro Temp when Decourt is gone but Ditch might be a candidate.

Fitch and Hulin could be candidates against Champagne for Representative.

If Tommy Landry runs for Senate look for Segura to run for his Parish Council seat.

This caused The council to realize they don't have a leg to stand on in their lawsuit against the landfill, so they contacted Gordon and asked to settle out of court. Now the landfill is not only operational BUT IS EXPANDING INTO THE PARISH!! Continued "

" I have been reading these post with interest regarding "Frank Rizzo" defaming Senator Troy Hebert. In today's Daily Iberian there is an article by Holly Leleux-Thuborn titled "Landfill debate dominates airport board." This article clearly dispels ALL accusations made by "Frank Rizzo" against Senator Hebert. The Airport Authority asked the Acadiana legislative delegation for their help, citizens are outraged about their safety, no written settlement has been received and the statue HAS NOT gone through full litigation.

"Frank Rizzo" there is allegedly a personal vendetta on your part against Senator Hebert. "

Commenting on Moon tells everyone you are one-sided and bias.

As for Jeff Landry, he needs to accept responsibility for his actions. He appeared foolish in his interview with the House Committee! Again, the vote was 9-3. He needs to stop whining, start working & get a life although he is not interested in building his law practice...his words!

"Frank Rizzo" you apparently are still ill-informed, one-sided, distorting the truth & lack substance.

You are giving Senator Hebert ABSOLUTE POWER!! "

To Frank Rizzo wrote on Oct 15, 2008 10:56 AM:

" Wow! Senator Hebert "got your goat." It's definately personal! How can you call Senator Hebert self-serving? He did what he was elected to do, represented the parish council, airport authority and thousands of constituents. What would you call former Senator Romero's actions for the past 12 years when he ignored the "will of the people" and gave privelege to one, Mr. Doerle?

Did you read the article that was published in the Daily Iberian on Sept. 26th? District Judge Caldwell issued a "preliminary injunction;" he has no jurisdiction on the permitting process. "

Frank Rizzo wrote on Oct 14, 2008 8:55 PM:

Here is three cases where Senator Hebert has gone after personal vendettas towards people (two of which are constituents) who have openly opposed him.
Now you, mystery person, will no doubt respond with something like I still lack substance, or am ill-informed, yadda, yadda, yadda, but these are facts, and these are why I am not voting for Troy. "

" Continued: Until last month when Judge Michael Caldwell threw the case out citing that it was unconstitutional for Troys bill to go after one local business.
Because this law was ruled unconstitutional by Caldwell, the Parish Council began contacting Gordon about settling their lawsuit out of court. Realizing that they were fixing to lose a 65 million dollar lawsuit, last Wednesday the Parish Council voted to settle their suit with Gordon, making Troy and his vindictive law look foolish.
And finally the king of ethics, (Troy Hebert) used his influence in the Senate Continued "

Frank Rizzo wrote on Oct 14, 2008 8:28 PM:

" Continued: Moon then made Troy look foolish by reading off Troy vote of record which showed that troy indeed voted numerous times to raise our taxes. Thankfully the bill never passed and the first amendment prevailed.
Next Troy went after Gordon's landfill citing that he was representing the Airport and their Aviation Administration. However the airport still does business with Gordon's landfill which tells me that they are not too upset about their current agreement. He was successful in getting his buddies in the Senate to vote for his bill temporarily closing Gordon down. Continued "

Here's some substance. Troy's first bill as a State Senator was to try and silence Moon Griffon because Moon had the audacity to support Jeff Landry, (how dare he oppose Troy Hebert). Before the election Troy called Moon's show to try and defend himself and Moon caught Troy in a lie. Troy said that as representative he never did vote to increase our taxes. Continued "
