Reaux, Renard lead Delcambre past Hanson, 37-0

DELCAMBRE -- Lane Reaux rushed for 151 yards and two touchdowns and Jorey Renard added 117 yards and one score as Delcambre pounded out 386 yards rushing in blanking Hanson 37-0 in the District 8-A opener for both teams Friday.

Reaux scored on runs of 23 and 70 yards while Renard scored on a 52-yard run for the Panthers (3-2 overall, 1-0 district).

Hanson’s Charles Uze led the Tigers (0-5, 0-1) with 66 yards rushing and Thomas Rogers ran for 42 yards.

Delcambre travels to Central Catholic Friday while Hanson plays host to Gueydan.

Donaldsonville 47, Jeanerette 22

JEANERETTE -- Bryant Dunn accounted for 286 yards and four touchdowns as Donaldsonville opened District 7-2A play with a win over Jeanerette Friday.

Dunn rushed for 202 yards and two touchdowns and caught four passes for 84 yards and two more scores for the Tigers (5-0, 1-0).

Jeanerette (1-5, 0-1) trailed by 5 points, 27-22, at the end of the third quarter, before DHS scored 20 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to seal the win.

Kurt Bouie led JSH with 39 yards rushing and 67 yards and two touchdowns passing while Darius Boutte had 38 yards rushing and Darian Hurst had 33 yards receiving.

Jeanerette travels to West St. John Friday.

St. Martinville 15, Abbeville 8, OT

ABBEVILLE -- Jules Tripeaux hit Jarrius James with a seven-yard touchdown pass in overtime as St. Martinville avenged last year’s overtime loss with an OT win at Abbeville in a District 5-4A contest Friday.

The two teams finished regulation tied at 8-8 in a strange contest.

Each team had a touchdown run and each team recorded a safety.

St. Martinville got its safety in the first quarter as an Abbeville running back was tackled in the end zone. Abbeville took the lead in the third quarter as Jhorian Henderson ran it in from five yards out. SMSH reclaimed the lead in the fourth quarter when Tripeaux ran in from two yards out and AHS tied the game late with a safety as St. Martinville snapped a punt out of the back of the end zone, setting up the extra period.

St. Martinville (2-3, 1-2) will play host to Beau Chene Friday.

Abbeville, which beat St. Martinville 24-18 in overtime last year, feel to 1-4 and 0-3 after fumbling five times Friday.

St. Helena Central 28, Franklin 14

GREENSBURG -- Jamarcus Lee ran for 115 yards and Addarius Sophus threw for three touchdowns as St. Helena Central beat Franklin Friday in a non-district game.

Sophus connected with James Leonard for a 51-yard scoring strike and with Jermekeo Campbell for 37 yards and ran for a three yard score in the first half as the Hawks (3-2) jumped out to a 21-6 first half lead and held on in the second half.

Franklin’s Chase Boykins completed 15 of 32 passes for 204 yards and two touchdowns. Ryan Sorrell caught one touchdown pass for 25 yards and Darius Henry caught a 32-yard TD pass.

Gerian Lightfoot led FSH with 70 yards rushing.

Franklin (2-3) opens District 7-3A play Friday at E.D. White.
