“One of the most important decisions a school board makes is selecting and hiring a superintendent that’s going to lead our schools in the right direction,” board President Wayne Deslatte said after a 55-minute executive session. “I’m very pleased to report that this is an excellent evaluation. It’s probably the best evaluation session I’ve been through.”
Aguillard thanked the board for providing him with “all the resources I need” to move the parish forward.

The board voted unanimously in January to extend Aguillard’s contract by three years. He became superintendent in 2004 after working in the Lafayette Parish school district for more than 28 years.
In other business, the board voted to revise its written honor roll policy to reflect changes practiced for some time.
Students will not be disqualified from the principal’s list or honor roll because of unsatisfactory penmanship.
Board members also granted time extensions for construction projects at Morgan City High School as well as Wyandotte Elementary School that were delayed by hurricanes Gustav and Ike.
