You’ve got a chance to become one on-stage next week when Mac Stearns, director of the Iberia Performing Arts League’s Christmas show “If It’s Monday, This Must Be Christmas!” holds try outs.
There are 13 parts available.

He said there are parts for children, teens, the middle-aged and the “just plain old.” Specifically, five adult males, six adult females, one male child and one female child are needed.
Parts range from a “wise-cracking private eye” to “an over-excitable store owner” to “a stressed-out Santa’s helper, to “a gentlemanly con artist” to a naive young lady in love with a naive young clerk.
The basic premise of the play, said Stearns, is that just before Christmas in Harrigans department store, the employees’ Christmas bonus and the store Santa go missing. Private detective Harry Monday is called in to sort things out.
That’s a questionable decision.
Alex Bonin, who plays conceited television actor Wayne Hopkins in his first IPAL play, “That’s the Spirit,” said he had “always wanted to do a play. I just never heard about auditions.”
Tryouts will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday and/or Monday at Essanee Theater.
