CHS, DHS sweep district foes It was aces wild Wednesday as Catholic High improved to 2-0 in Division III, District 4 with a 3-0 (25-3, 25-9, 25-3) sweep of West St. Mary. The win marked the second straight sweep of a district opponent for the Lady Panthers, having disposed of Patterson in three game Tuesday. A total of five players combined for 26 aces in the win, which was four more than the number of kills the Lady Panthers recorded in the contest. Kristen Defelice led CHS with 10 aces. Abby Henagan added eight aces, Courtney Molbert had six aces, and Katie Breaux and Kristen Ball each had two aces. Ariele Bienvenu and Lanie Lissard each had six kills for the Lady Panthers. Mary Hoag, Erin Dworaczyk and Allison Lahasky each had two kills, and Kirsten Kidder, Henagan, Marie Hoag and Casey Breaux each had a kill in the win. Individual statistics for WSM were not available. Catholic High (12-3) will play in the St. Thomas More Tournament this weekend. Delcambre 3, Iota 0 IOTA -- For the second straight match, the Delcambre Lady Panthers blanked an opponent as DHS took a 3-0 (25-16, 25-23, 25-21) non-district victory over Iota Wednesday. The win came one day after DHS opened District V-1 play with a 3-0 sweep of Central Catholic. Chelsie Taylor led DHS with 10 kills, two aces and two blocks. Linzy Landry chipped in eight kills and two aces; Jessica Touchet had five kills, 16 assists and three aces; Brittany Granger added two kills, four aces, one block and 11 assists; Hacie Stelly had five kills and three blocks; and Heather Broussard had a kill and an assist. Delcambre (4-4) continues district play today as the Lady Panthers play host to Hamilton Christian. |
