A release from Trooper David Anderson said Troy Ward, 39, “was pronounced dead at the scene” after his motorcycle hit the front left tire of a farm tractor at the intersection of Louisiana 318 and Louisiana 668.
The crash occurred, the report said, when Ward approached a tractor being driven by 35-year-old Wilfrid Lanie of Jeanerette.

“Lanie attempted to make a left turn from Louisiana 318 onto Louisiana 668. The motorcycle struck the front left tire of tractor in the southbound lane of Louisiana 318 in the intersection. Ward was pronounced dead at the scene.”
Alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be a contributing factor in the crash, authorities said, adding Lanie did not sustain injuries as a result of the crash.
This was the 48th fatal crash and the 53rd fatality Troop I has investigated in 2008, Anderson said.

My prays are with you all. I have had the pleasure of meeting Troy on several occasions during the performance of my duty. And thought of him as a friend. He was a fine upstanding citizen, that always talked of his family and love ones. Someone that was always willing to give a hand.
He is heaven smiling down and watching over you
