Three months to the day after the death of a New Iberia woman by strangulation, law enforcement officials are still trying to determine the manner of her death.

Judy Landry, 61, was found unresponsive in her Robert Street home by her husband, Edmond, around noon July 1. She was pronounced dead at 1:40 p.m.

Iberia Parish Sheriff Louis Ackal, who was on the scene of the death shortly after being inaugurated, said at the time that in keeping with standard procedure, it was processed as a crime scene.

Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Wendell Raborn said Tuesday the investigation into Landry’s death is still active, but declined to offer any other specific information.

“The case, at this time, is still open,” Raborn said.

Iberia Parish Coroner Dr. James Falterman ruled the cause of Landry’s death as strangulation July 3 following an autopsy. Falterman said that if a cause of a person’s death is ruled strangulation, the manner of death could be ruled as accidental, suicide or homicide.

He described this as a “difficult case.”

“Some investigations take longer than others because of difficult circumstances,” Falterman said Tues-day.

“I’m waiting for law enforcement to give me more information on their investigation.”

" Sounds like one of those "Murder She Wrote" stories, but sadly this is not.
I think the husband did it. Who else?
    Maybe a hobo.... "

" After 3 months they know that it is a murder. I agree with night hawk, something is coming down and fast. The murderer will be caught and has no place to hide from the law. Peace will return to our city and one more crime solved.
    Thanks Sheriff. "

" I live on Robert S. Dr. and all my neighbors are just waiting for the murderer of this sweet little lady to be arrested and put in jail where he belongs. Has the sheriff talk to her husband lately? This is very suspect. I watch the house all the time now to see if a stranger will return to the scene of the crime. "

" Thee months and no arrests yet. I think something is about the break in this case.
The sheriff's folks have had this case for a long time and they know who did it.
Its just a matter of time before we can feel comfortable again that a killer(s) are caught and put in jail.

Thanks to Steve Wilson for a fine job of not letting this case go silent. "

" I would like to know what makes this a "difficult case," as said by the coroner. A killer may be amongst us all and I sure the sheriff's department has some clues. I hope this is solved very soon!! "

" The truth of the matter is they don't have a clue. "

" That sounds like something fishy. Sounds like something is about to go down. They know who the killer is but just can't prove it. "
