Moise Louiviere

Loreauville — A Mass of Christian Burial for Moise Louiviere, 88, will be celebrated on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008, at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church.  The Reverend Buddy Breaux will serve as celebrant.  Entombment with military honors rendered by V.F.W. Post 1982 will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008, from 9 a.m.  to 10 p.m. in David Funeral Home, with a rosary being recited at 7:30 p.m.   Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 8 a.m. until service time in the funeral home.

Mr. Louiviere passed away on Monday, Sept.  22, 2008, at 5:46 a.m. in his Loreauville residence.

A native and lifelong resident of Loreauville,  Moise was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather.  He was a hardworking man who loved spending time with his family and friends.  Moise worked for Breaux’s Bay Craft as a painter for 30 years.  He served in the U.S. Army, fighting in Europe during World War II from 1944 until 1945.  Moise loved horseback riding and working with a local food catering service.  He was a devoted Catholic, serving as an usher at St. Joseph Catholic Church for many years.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years , Martha Broussard Louiviere of Loreauville; brothers, Junius Louiviere and wife, Emily of Loreauville, Ury Louiviere and wife, Elaine of Loreauville, and Jerry Louiviere of New Iberia; sister, Joyce Albert and husband, Cleveland of Loreauville; grandsons, Terry Theriot, Barry Theriot, and Shane Theriot and wife, Dr. Jeanne Theriot, all of Parks, Harold “Key-Key” Louiviere, Jr. and wife, Debra, Vernon “T-Vern” Louiviere, Jr., and Travis Louiviere and wife, Ida, all of Loreauville; granddaughters, Bridget Theriot Clause and husband, Kevin of Parks and Penny Louiviere Pelous of Breaux  Bridge; great-grandchildren, Cody Theriot of New Iberia, Keely Theriot, Kwinn Theriot, Jonah Theriot, Zachary Theriot, Kaleb Theriot, and Laik Clause, all of Parks, Katie T. Christensen and husband, Justin of Lafayette, Natalie Louiviere, Nicholas Louiviere, and Peyton Louiviere, all of Loreauville; Jake Pelous of Breaux Bridge, and Jaylen Lassigne of St. Martinville; great-great-granddaughter, Emma Christensen of Lafayette; daughter-in-law, Louella Louiviere of Loreauville; and son-in-law, Laurent Theriot and wife, Linda of Parks.

Preceding Mr. Louiviere in death were his parents, John and Josephine Melancon Louiviere; sons, Harold “Hadacol” Louiviere, Sr. and Vernon “T-Red” Louiviere, Sr.; daughter, Jeanette Louiviere Theriot; brothers, Lloyd Louiviere, Claude Louiviere, Fernis Louiviere, Clarence Louiviere, and Collins Louiviere; sister, Yolande Louiviere Viator; and grandson, Carl “T-Carl” Theriot.

Scriptural readings will be delivered by Roxie LeBlanc-Derouen and Natalie Louiviere.

Serving as pallbearers are Harold “Key-Key” Louiviere, Jr., Terry Theriot, Barry Theriot, Shane Theriot, Kwinn Theriot, and Kevin Clause.  Named as honorary pallbearers are Ury Louiviere, Jerry Louiviere, Junius Louiviere, Laurent Theriot, Willie Carbo, Carol Blanchard, and Don Louiviere.
