Up for election will be open primaries for district judges, justices of the peace, constables, city marshals and judges in Jeanerette and New Iberia, as well as elected city council posts.
Iberia Parish Registrar of Voters Mildred Adams believes this election will bring “a good number” of voters, citing the city marshal races in Jeanerette and New Iberia and New Iberia’s five city council races.

Jolene Holcombe, registrar of voters for St. Mary Parish, said the ballot includes three drainage propositions, a library bond proposition, and elections of justice of the peace, constables and other elected positions.
The 16th Judicial District Section 1 Division H seat will be voted on in all three parishes.
Adams said the races on the ballot “change the push that is made for early voting.”
Four years ago, Adams said 1,300 out of 18,000 voters voted early in Iberia Parish.
“Once they start knocking door to door, it brings folks out,” she said.
Adams said anyone can vote early “just because.” Voting goes more quickly when people bring picture identification like a driver’s license.
Adams said those who do not have picture IDs should bring a voter identification card, utility bills, a checkbook, or anything else that might help prove identity and residence.
Early voting is held statewide from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday through Sept. 27, except Sunday, at the parish registrar of voter’s office in each parish’s courthouse.
The Iberia Parish Courthouse is at 300 Iberia St. in New Iberia. The St. Mary Parish Courthouse is at 500 Main St. in Franklin, and the St. Martin Parish Courthouse is at 415 S. Main St. in St. Martinville.
