A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m., on Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008, at  St. Peter’s Catholic Church in New Iberia, for Nora Chriss Borel, 87, who died on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2008, in New Iberia.

Entomb-ment will follow at Beau Pre Mausoleum in Jeanerette.

Rev. Jude Halphen will be the Celebrant. Readers will be Karen Griffin and Susan Koopman. Gift Bearers include Kristen Segura and Jennifer Borel.

Born on Aug. 27, 1921, in Louisa, Mrs. Borel was a loving mother, grandmother and homemaker. A member of the Charlotte Homemaker Club, she enjoyed watching tennis, and participated in the Senior Olympics where she earned several medals.

Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Raoul Borel of New Iberia; son Thayer Borel and wife, Edith, of Baton Rouge; daughters Sharon LaCombe and husband, E.P., of New Iberia, Myra Bienvenu and husband, Bert, of New Iberia, Beth Borel, New Iberia; grandchildren Susan Koopman and husband, William, of Scottsboro, Ala., Brian Borel and wife, Yvette, of Denham Springs, Jennifer Borel of Baton Rouge, Brandon Bienvenu and wife, Brooke, of New Iberia, Kristen Segura and husband, Bron, of New Iberia; eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Godfrey and Amelia Martin Chriss; brothers and sisters Lillian Anderson, Harry Chriss Sr., Godfrey Chriss Jr., Rita Gahn, Dora LeBlanc, and Wilson Chris.

Pallbearers include Brian Borel, Brandon Bienvenu, William Koopman, Bron Segura, Chris M. LeBlanc and Harold Griffin.

A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday from 9 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, in New Iberia
