Dr. Beverly A. Farrell

A retired vice president of Our Lady of the Lake College, she died at 6:02 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008, at North Cypress Medical Center in Houston. She was 63, a resident of Baton Rouge and a native of New Iberia. Visitation will be at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia, on Friday, Sept. 12, from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m., Friday. Visitation resumes at the funeral home on Saturday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, New Iberia, will follow at 10 a.m. Saturday. Interment will be at Holy Family Cemetery, New Iberia. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Richard Farrell Sr., Baton Rouge; father and mother, Richard Allain Sr. and Anna Louise Schwing, of New Iberia; two daughters, Anna Farrell Harrison and husband Travis Harrison, and Mary E. Farrell, all of Baton Rouge; three sons, Thomas R. Farrell Jr., Bart S. Farrell and wife Angelle Farrell, and Patrick J. Farrell, all of Baton Rouge; four sisters, Pat Rhinehart, Emma Hanks and husband Tim Hanks, Rita Breaux and husband Harvey Breaux, and Anne Allain, all of New Iberia; three brothers, Jimmy Allain and wife Peggy Allain, and Paul Allain and wife Rebecca Allain, all of New Iberia, and Peter Allain and wife Aline Allain, of Baton Rouge; sister-in-laws Regina Viator of New Iberia and Vickie Allain of Niceville, Florida; and four grandchildren. Preceded in death by two brothers, Lt. Col. Richard Allain Jr. and John Carroll Allain.

Pallbearers will be Taylor Wainwright, Tommy Farrell, Johnny Allain Viator, Bart Farrell, Patrick Farrell and Travis Harrison.

Honorary pallbearers are Paul Allain, Peter Allain, Tim Hanks, Jimmy Allain, Harvey Breaux and Bart Farrell, of New Jersey.

Dr. Beverly A. Farrell received a bachelor’s degree from Spring Hill College in Mobile, Ala., in 1966, and received a master’s degree from Louisiana Tech in Ruston in 1970. She continued her education at LSU and received her Ph.D. in 2001. Dr. Beverly Farrell was a dedicated, inspirational and courageous wife and mother who will be missed dearly and never forgotten.

In lieu of gifts, donations may be made in her name to The American Cancer Society.

Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, New Iberia, is in charge of the arrangements.
