Mark Crawford, officer in charge of the U.S. Postal Service Office in New Iberia, said letter carriers will deliver as much mail as they can to as many neighborhoods as they can get to.
There will be some neighborhoods considered to be impassable, Crawford said, especially in rural parts of the parish.

Though the post office does not have power restored yet, the front office will be open for people to make cash-only transactions and get parcels mailed out.
The Postal Service’s vehicles are running low on fuel, but Crawford hopes to have “on site fueling” take place soon.
“A lot of employees are having personal crises like the rest of the community, so we’re half-staffed,” Crawford said. “Hopefully within a couple of days we’ll be caught up with everything.”
