ANNOUNCEMENTS, CANCELLATIONS AND RE-SCHEDULING:
• All branches of the Iberia Parish Library will be closed through Thursday. All full- and part-time staff who can report to the main branch should do so at 9 a.m. Friday.
• There will be no school for the rest of the week for St. Martin Parish students. All Central Office Staff; School based Administrators and Custodians are to report to work on Friday, September 5, 2008, at 8 a.m.
• The Iberia Soccer Association’s Saturday, September 6, regular-season opener for all boys and girls teams has been postponed, ISA president Dave Cavalier announced this morning. Opening weekend will be held September 13 with that slate of matches to be held at the PepperPlex. The September 6 matches will be made up at a later date.
• The meeting of the St. Martin Parish Council, previously scheduled Tuesday at 5 p.m. at the Parish Courthouse Annex in St. Martinville, was canceled. The meeting has been re-scheduled Thursday at 5 p.m. The agenda that was previously published may include additional items as result of the extreme emergency circumstances associated with the current State of Emergency previously declared by the St. Martin Parish President.
• St. Mary Parish Schools will be closed until next Wednesday. All classes, school activities and athletic events are suspended during the duration of school closure. Â
• St. Martin Parish Officials are asking residents of St. Martinville to please conserve water due to generator problems throughout the parish. It is uncertain at this time as to when water services will be restored.
• St. Martin Parish Officials have established the following phone number for residents of St. Martin Parish to call regarding damages to their property, it is as follows: (337) 394-2811. We are asking residents to call this number to report any structural damages related to the storm. In addition, the curfew for St. Martin Parish was lifted at 6 a.m. this morning.
