Broussard said the town suffered minimal damage with downed trees, a few reports of minor structural damage and power loss for only 12 hours for most of the residents.
He said there were also reports of flooding in a few homes located in low-lying areas near Lake Dauterive-Fausse Pointe.

Broussard said there was one death as the eye of the storm approached the community but added it was due to natural causes. He said the community did not experience any food shortages either thanks to Miller’s Market, a local store that stayed open until Monday morning and reopened Tuesday morning running on generator power.
Ron Miller, owner of the grocery store, said everyone seemed to be grateful he kept his doors open and that he was happy to do it. He also said he was happy to be there for his customers when they needed him.
Miller’s Market had many things Thursday but was waiting on ice and milk deliveries expected in the afternoon.
Broussard said only a small percentage of Loreauville residents evacuated for Hurricane Gustav, estimating those to be less than 20 percent of the population.
He also believes many people learned lessons from Hurricane Rita in September 2005 and started preparing early for Hurricane Gustav.
