A Rite of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mr. Alex “Sonny” Taylor, 56, Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Saint Edward Catholic Church, New Iberia, LA, with the Rev. Msgr. Ronald Broussard as celebrant. He will be laid to rest in St. Edward Catholic Church Cemetery, New Iberia.

A resident of New Iberia, Mr. Taylor passed away on Sunday, Aug. 24, 2008, at 3:15 a.m. at Lafayette General Medical Center.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Friday, Aug. 29, 2008, from 4p.m. until 10 p.m., with a recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume on Saturday at the funeral home from 7 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.

He leaves to cherish his memories, two sons, Jamie Taylor of New Iberia and Randall Enard Taylor of Lafayette, LA; one daughter, Katina Trahan of New Iberia, one brother, Frank Taylor of Lafayette; four sisters, Lucille George and Christine Mitchell, both of New Iberia, and Michelle Benoit and Rene Benoit, both of Delcambre, four grandchildren; a special nephew, Calvin Viator of New Iberia; his former wives, Anna Ledet and Menola Jones and her children, Bradley and Alicia Young; and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Lorena Jeanlouis Taylor; one sister, Barbara T. Landry; one brother, Francis Taylor; one nephew, Wendell Cormier; one great nephew, Courtney Wilson; paternal grandparents, William and Naomi Johnson Taylor and his maternal grandparents, Antoine and Bernice Simon Jeanlouis.

Active and honorary pallbearers will be members and friends of the immediate family.
