Teche Area parishes close schools Tuesday

The St. Mary Parish School Board will not open schools Tuesday. Students and teachers already had Monday off due to the Labor Day holiday.

In a release to news media, the school district said “the St. Mary parish School Board has canceled all classes and school activities Tuesday. The district will utilize local and regional media outlets to announce the reopening of schools.”

St. Martin and Iberia parishes followed suit Friday, canceling class for Tuesday.

Hanson Memorial High School and St. John Elementary in Franklin will be closed Tuesday, as well. Also, Catholic High School has also announced its closure Tuesday.

Other school closings for Tuesday include Acadia Christian School in New Iberia, Catholic High School in New Iberia, Epiphany Day School in New Iberia, Highland Baptist School in New Iberia, St. Edward Catholic School in New Iberia, St. Joseph's School in Jeanerette and Trinity Catholic Elementary in St. Martinville.
